Yoga for Infertility
The ancient discipline of yoga is an excellent way to reduce stress and muscle tension, improve flexibility and muscle tone, induce relaxation, and improve the clarity of your thinking and your overall feelings of well-being. In addition to feeling less stressed, patients who practice yoga regularly are often able to communicate more clearly with their doctors, make more satisfying decisions, and sustain treatment with a more positive perspective.
Fertility Yoga | Integrated Fertility and Wellness Program
As part of RMACT’s Integrated Fertility and Wellness Program, we offer ongoing Fertile Yoga classes on Thursdays at our fertility treatment center in Norwalk and at YogaSpace in Brookfield, CT on Friday evenings. Spouses, partners, friends and family members are welcome to attend.
We are fortunate to have Lisa Rosenthal as a yoga instructor. She is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and the founder of Fertile Yoga. Lisa is also our featured blogger on PathtoFertility – a fertility treatment support and news blog.
Additionally, there are yoga studios in almost every town and yoga classes offered at local YMCAs, JCCs, and health clubs. Fertility patients should choose a “gentle” or therapeutic style of yoga, such as Hatha yoga or Viniyoga and should avoid the vigorous “power yoga” or “hot yoga” classes.
