Pre-Conception Wellness Matters
Health and lifestyle changes made prior to pregnancy help to increase fertility, reduce complications in pregnancy and delivery, and help to improve the health of the baby. Participants will learn how to optimize their health prior to conception through prevention and management of medical, behavioral, and social risks to a woman’s health and pregnancy outcome. I am Pregnant, Now What?
This seminar will discuss the key components of a health-promoting lifestyle during pregnancy–including appropriate maternal weight gain, physical activity, essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, environmental toxins and risks, and food safety. A few common concerns and frequently asked questions in pregnancy will be identified along with ideas on how to manage or minimize them with diet and lifestyle–from morning sickness, constipation, anemia and maternal weight, to gestational diabetes and hypertension. Battling Diabetes: Reducing the Risks of Insulin Resistance and Diabetes for You and Your Baby
Diabetes is the most common health concern in pregnancy. Maternal and fetal complications decrease if the woman is in optimal blood glucose control during pregnancy. Self- management is the key to fertility success, and reducing risks in pregnancy. This seminar is appropriate for all RMA patients with diabetes, history of diabetes in a previous pregnancy, or at risk of developing diabetes. Participants will learn about dietary, exercise, and other lifestyle pre-conception recommendations that can help to decrease risks before, during, and after pregnancy. Matters of the Heart—Controlling Hypertension, High Cholesterol, and Obesity: Reducing the Risks for You and Your Baby
Non-pregnant women with pre-existing high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol are at increased risk of pregnancy complications and may be at greater risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes later in life. This seminar is for all RMA patients with high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol. Participants will learn about how heart healthy dietary, exercise and lifestyle recommendations can help to improve heart health and fertility, and reduce pregnancy complications.
